Indian Army Opretion: A major development is emerging from Jammu and Kashmir, where the army is continuously cracking down on terrorists. Meanwhile, terrorists are searching for hideouts here and there. During this time, Indian security forces engaged in a direct encounter with terrorists in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. Finding themselves encircled, the terrorists began to attack the Indian Army. In this exchange, one Indian Army jawan was injured.
According to information, a joint team of the army and police clashed with terrorists in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter began in the high and remote forest areas of Udhampur. The terrorists have been attempting to hide in these dense forests, using them as safe havens for a long time.
Based on intelligence inputs, when the army entered these forests, the terrorists, realizing they were surrounded, launched an attack on the soldiers. Similarly, terrorists were hiding in the forests of Udhampur. When the army arrived to conduct an operation, the terrorists received information about it. At this point, the terrorists began to attack the army and tried to escape. Search operations are currently ongoing. A joint team of the army and police is participating in this operation. There was also an exchange of fire with the terrorists, and it has been reported that one jawan was seriously injured in this clash. It was later confirmed that the injured soldier succumbed to his injuries and was martyred.
Officials stated that large-scale search operations had been underway since Friday evening in the Dudu Basantgarh area of Udhampur and Bhaderwah in Doda. The army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were conducting joint search operations along the border. During this operation, a major confrontation ensued between the army and the terrorists. In this exchange, joint forces engaged with the terrorists. During the clash, the terrorists opened fire, seriously injuring one jawan, who later attained martyrdom.
Officials further added that a strict cordon was maintained around the encounter site throughout the night following the incident. Search operations are still continuing. The security cordon has been further tightened, and strict vigilance is being maintained. The joint search operation has resumed. Officials estimate that two to three terrorists are believed to be hiding in the forest areas. Additional forces, including drones and sniffer dogs, have been continuously deployed from both Udhampur and Doda, and a comprehensive search operation will continue until the last reports are received.
It is noteworthy that earlier, security forces had launched a search operation in a dense nursery near the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. At that time, officials collectively thwarted a major infiltration bid by terrorists under a large-scale operation. Security forces had also intercepted a group of heavily armed terrorists infiltrating across the border in March within the same nursery. Army operations in these forests and surrounding areas have been ongoing for the past year. Terrorists attempt to infiltrate, but they are consistently stopped at the border.
